Fancy Kerchief

I won (Thank you!) and Tiennie chose so well when she decided on the Silkie in Lunasea for me... I said I'd like brown, green, blue, teal, grey... I'd say I got almost all of them, most suitably named Lunasea and gorgeously soft. Nice.

I thought it should turn into something nice, too. So I ruled out socks or a complicated scarf I am not able to make yet, and I did not know how far the yarn would reach, so I opted for a Kerchief Scarf (Last Minute Knitted Gifts, Joelle Hoverson, ISBN 978-1-58479-367-0) and keep on knitting until the yarn runs out.

I knitted only while waiting on the kindergarten playground, so it took about two weeks to make it. But great to see again how much can be done by using all those minutes you are busy with nothing but waiting.

While it got larger and larger I thought it would be a comfortable scarf for Dagny to wrap in when riding the train in summer. Around the shoulders or on the lap, it is always so chilly on the trains... a scarf for Dagny should include something pink and cute, so the fancy border was added. And now we are quarreling about it because I still like cute, too...

Of course my girl looks way cuter than me... but that's supposed to be so.

Thanks again, Tiennie, for the beautiful yarn!

Have a good week!

Sweet ! it looks so gorgeous and the stitches look so refined.

Just dropping by to say hello as i have been reading your fabulous blog.

Thanks for sharing

Alex, the scarf is just beautiful! I love the fine crochet edge that you added- might have to try one of these myself after seeing how lovely the pattern looks made up!

Beautiful yarn, beautiful scarf. Perhaps this is a good chance to teach Dagny about the benefits of sharing. ;-)

so lovely!

all three of you. mom, dd and the kerchief! ;)

very cute. Both!

What a gorgeous scarf, so light and featherlike and your daughter models beautifully.

So gorgeous on the both of you. Your work is fantastic.

That is beautiful. I love the edging.

I love the scarf and the yarn is really wonderful!

You've turned the yarn into something totally pretty - especially on your beautiful little girl! Love the crochet edge. This makes me so happy to see!

Just beautiful! Will you share how you made the pretty scalloped edging? It makes the pattern so much more special.

Beautiful scarf and nice yarn hues.
I also have those ''empty hours'' especially dedicated projects: I am currently keeping busy crocheting a scarf on my daily way to work. Do I need to specify, I am not the driver ;-)

I love the trim you added to the pattern. A very nice feminine touch! It came out beautiful. Isn't knitting/crocheting a wonderful, portable hobby? Especially, like you said, at all those waiting for the kids occassions - which there seem to be more and more of. Lovely job.

merveilleuse !!!!!!!!!

Beautiful post, Alex. So true that we need warm and soft things on days when it is blisteringly hot outside and an icebox inside the train. About using minutes here and there to make yourself happy and make something *real* and wonderful in the process, I completely agree.

so beautiful! great work... so soft!

Just had a thought - you might have to change your blog to 'playground stitches' rather than 'moonstitches'. :o)

Truly sweet!!!!

Great scarf and beautiful trim, as well!

The little ones have to be cute. It's so when they do bad things they can get away with it. LOL!

Adorable!

Love reading your blog, Moonstitches

Oooh, I love that. It's so beautiful. And that soft border in pale pink is heaven!

Oh it is gorgeous, I really like the edging makes it more complete, I like your version better than the one in the book.

Such elegant photos you have taken of a beautiful project!

the Kerchief Scarf is pretty. I love the colour and the white edge.

your kerchief is gorgeous, love the colour yarn and the edging, so sweet!
