Thanks for all your compassionate comments on the chicken pox. My girl is doing great, pox are almost gone,  and since she doesn't scratch herself the chickenpoxblock for my quilt might be all that'll be remembering us on the pox in the future.
Also thanks for the very interesting insights into your kitchen... I'm coming back to you just give me one more day.
Things are happening slowly here at MOONSTITCHES...
I am not really back to blogging yet, have been toiling in the kitchen and the craft room for the last two days (no, no crafting happened, all sheer desperate attempts to achieve a state of tidiness which might have the potential to hold a bit longer than the usual three days) while the rest of the family has been enjoying the beautiful springy weather we have.

Tomorrow we'll be joining a little hanami festival in our park, so expect more pictures of cherry blossoms then, and more on Sunday and maybe on Monday... lots of cherry trees here in Japan...

Ordinary Sheep

Everybody is doing it and as the ordinary sheep I am it was very likely I'd be jumping on the wagon as well and try the no knead bread. Found this link via angry chicken and know I am not the last who has not made such a bread yet. So if you are one of the other three girls who have not, do now, it's as good as they say. I'm thrilled. The taste is great. So little yeast and so much time you're giving the dough to mature really do this bread well.
Edit: I reduced the salt to less than two teaspoons.

I must admit mine got a little dark but given the amazing one inch distance between the top of the finished bread and the heating coil in my tiny oven I am quite happy with that, could be worse. Baking something "normally" sized in a Japanese sized oven is always a challenge.

Apparently we had a baking theme going on here yesterday and watched this Apple Spice Cake clip on Martha Stewart. You know, we don't have a TV and are not used to watch cooking shows and this clip has been the first time Dagny ever saw something like it on a screen. She was highly entertained. The thing which got her utmost attention was the mixer... enthusiastically she asked me with big eyes what this thing was.

That was so funny. I hadn't thought of how much it is me who is responsible for how this girl's little world is constructed. So far she thought a dough is mixed with a simple whisk.
I wonder, do you all have such highly developed mixers? Or is there anybody else who is still on a hands, whisk and wooden spoon level?

The weekend was a bit chilly hence the cherries will need some more time, only a few blossoms yet.

I don't know if it's really necessary because making the owls is quite easy and after all I can't provide you with the pattern since the one I used is copyright protected... but anyway.

The owls are fun and you should try them!

These, by the way, are husband's-worn-out-100%-cashmere-coat with linen, very elegant and nice to touch.

Woowls, they always feel good... :)

Where have I been?

So, almost two weeks since my last posting? Seems like an unofficial blog break...
Let me explain: First my daughter _____ and left me with a huge amount of _____. It was terrible especially since _____ is partly broken. I was pretty busy that time. Then J. _____, stayed at home, causing _____ which didn't help either. The _____ and _____ was piling up, I got _____ and _____ and finally the _____ got me, too, and of course  it's kindergarten spring holiday now... but everything starts settling again and I am back to crafting and blogging.
