I didn't mean to make you that curious by uploading the single dot onto my Flickr photostream (maybe the picture of yet another stunning packaging by Alison made you even more curious but you'll have to wait for the revelation on that account a little longer, no further pictures yet)... wanted to post about the dots yesterday but didn't make it, couldn't think about how to write about it.
What I made is just the result of me playing with a pattern for a Granny Bag with bias tape handles, something I've never done before and wanted to try. Just a simple Granny Bag as in just some more coasters... you know, not a big thing... so should i even tell you about it? Well, what I have learned, and this might actually be worth sharing, is, some fabrics like this dotted gauze appreciate to be sewn by hand. Using the machine just looked like I went over it with a steamroller, so brutal and unkind. So I ripped it. Gauze should be caressed with gentle hand stitches.
And speaking of hand stitches... it was these pictures and the clever packaging from Alison that inspired me to do this
Fabric: gauze, a tenugui (Japanese tea towel), very soft and nice as lining and a canvas by Lotta Jansdotter, 2006.
Till later! I really mean it.
Have a good day!
